If you are interested in being a Faith Community Support Organization to help one or more of our Service Providers accomplish their mission, thank you for your interest. We believe that as you collaborate, this does not need to be merely a one sided relationship where you give and others receive. This will also allow you to fulfill your mission. Because, while our faith communities may have differences, we can all stand on the common ground of these abbreviated words from Jesus in Luke 10:27:
In what is often called the Great Commandment, Jesus made it clear that our neighbors are often beyond the walls of where our faith community gathers. And we all have room to grow into this enormous challenge.
So, collaboration with BridgeLink will help our neighbors in Anoka county. But you and many volunteers from your faith community can also grow spiritually from these efforts. If you will take one or more of the following five opportunities, we will show you how this is possible.
Four Opportunities for Faith Community Collaboration
Note: Each of these is a progressively larger step,
however you do not need to do all of these, nor do you have to do them in order.
Opportunity # 1 Book an Appointment with BridgeLink Leadership
This is a step beyond being aware of the BridgeLink opportunity through a friend, our Faith Community Forum Breakfast, or our website. Through a face to face appointment we can give you a clearer understanding of what your collaboration options are and what would be a good next step. We would be pleased to present the purpose and programming of BridgeLink to your staff, board, or whoever would most benefit from either the big picture or a discussion of very specific service opportunities. We promise that we will tailor the discussion to your interest and objectives. Contact Pastor Jim Barber to book an appointment.
Opportunity # 2 Select a Starting Point Service Project
After a consultation with our staff, you may want to select a single service project to see what this is like. We will work with our Service Providers to define a service project that your faith community can participate in within the coming weeks. This is a good way to introduce the idea of community service to your team and to see what an ongoing relationship with BridgeLink would be like. Please contact Jill Discher to find a Starting Point Service Project that will fit your faith community.
Opportunity # 3 Participate in a Service Project
BridgeLink organizes events each month to assist our Service Providers. The next opportunities are listed on our Home Page. You and your faith community can select from the many opportunties to help others in our community. Details for these events will be provided well in advance to facilitate your planning. You may want to participate in just a single service project or select several different types of projects to provide your volunteers with the opportunity for meaningful community service. Please contact Jill Discher to see how.
Opportunity # 4 Become a BridgeLink Faith Community Associate
Becoming a BridgeLink Faith Community Associate is the highest level of collaboration with BridgeLink and its Service Providers. A Faith Community Associate relationship is an optional agreement to use BridgeLink as your facilitator of community service involvement. Becoming an Associate requires prior participation in at least one Service Project, or similar event, a commitment to ongoing volunteer community service, and a financial investment in BridgeLink for the benefit of the community. We believe that your faith community will be best positioned to make a difference in Anoka County by becoming a BridgeLink Associate. We also believe it is a cost effective approach to community involvement. You will find a win-win as your volunteers grow in their faith. In addition, an Associate relationship will give you access to volunteer mobilization training that will be useful for volunteers both inside and outside the walls of your faith community. Contact Pastor Jim Barber to discuss how to become a BridgeLink Faith Community Associate.
